Solid Depth From XC Teams Puts Peabody Back at All-States

Both teams will compete at All-States Nov. 16 and the girls' team has a state title to defend.

The Tanners may not have a pair of high-profile elite runners this year to buoy the teams, but they have shown solid depth to get the job done.

Both boys' and girls' cross country squads put in strong races at the Eastern Mass. divisional meet this past weekend in Wrentham and will both move on to compete at All-States Nov. 16 in Gardner. The girls, in particular, have a state title to defend.

The boys were led Saturday by senior Drew Fossa, who finished 6th in 15:54, as the team placed 2nd overall.

The rest of the squad finished as follows: Marcelo Rocha (15th, 16:15), Alex Greco (19th, 16:21), Ben Braz (20th, 16:21), Riley Dowd (34th, 16:38), Cody Jordan (80th, 17:15) and Richie Fournier (87th, 17:20).

The girls were led by junior Lauren Barrett, who placed 6th in 19:01. The team finished 3rd.

The rest of the squad finished as follows: Sam Allen (11th, 19:09), Antonia Pagliuca (13th, 19:13), Sydney May (30th, 19:53), Annie Pollock (42nd, 20:20), Emily Christiansen (48th, 20:34) and Julia Merchant (56th, 20:43).
