Peabody High's Catarina Rocha easily won another state crown Saturday, but that wasn't all, the Lady Tanners took home the team title as well from the All-State Cross Country Meet at Northfield Mountain.
Rocha, a senior this year, finished at 18:06, putting about 45 seconds between herself and the runner-up from Acton-Boxboro and claiming her second straight title.
Fellow senior Heather MacLean (19:47) and sophomore Lauren Barrett (19:51) then finished 16th and 17th, respectively, giving Peabody a 20-point lead by the time No. 2 and 3 runners from Lincoln-Sudbury and Needham crossed the line.
Juniors Sam Allen (49th, 20:25) and Antonia Pagliuca (96th, 21:09) finished the scoring for Peabody at 108 points -- Lincoln-Sudbury ultimately trailed at 117. Peabody's Sydney May, a junior, ran 21:16 for 104th and Mary Leach, a senior, 22:35 for 160th.
The Salem News reports it was Peabody's first Division I crown in cross country since 1978.
Next up for Rocha is another trip to the Northeast Regional Foot Locker Championships on Saturday in New York.
