Perfect Season for Peabody Volleyball; Boys' and Girls' Soccer Also in Playoffs

Here's the schedule for playoff action with the Tanners.

The postseason has arrived. Here's the lineup of playoff action for the Peabody High Tanners:

Both the girls' and boys' soccer teams begin their tournament runs this week in the Division I North Sectional. The girls host Westford Friday (5 p.m.) and the boys host Malden Sunday (1 p.m.). Both games are first round contests.

The girls, 12-2-4, are seeded 6th while Westford is seeded 11th at 9-6-1. The boys, 12-1-5, are seeded 4th and Malden is 13th at 10-7-1.

The Tanners' volleyball team just had a perfect season, 20-0, and now awaits the winner of Saturday's Salem/Methuen game on Monday at home (7 p.m.). That game will be a quarter final contest in Division I North.

The Tanners' football and field hockey teams did not make the playoffs and the golf club placed 10th at the Division I North sectional tournament on Oct. 21. Ted Izzo shot an 82 for the day, but that wasn't enough to qualify for the state tournament.

Under the new playoff format this year, however, there are still three more games for the Tanners' football squad. Peabody travels to Chelmsford Friday and then hosts Andover (Nov. 8) and Lawrence (Nov. 15) before the annual Thanksgiving Day game at Saugus (Nov. 28, 10 a.m.).

As for cross country, the state divisional meets are coming up Nov. 9 with All-States Nov. 16. EMass will be held at the Wrentham Developmental Center and All-States is at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course.
