Peabody West Defeats Beverly to Open Sectional Tourney

Peabody West opened sectional play against Beverly Wednesday night for a 7-5 victory in the round-robin tournament.

The Salem News reports Peabody developed a solid lead, 7-1, heading into the final inning, having kept the Beverly bats at bay, but the Tanner City kids then started to see that margin rapidly disintegrate as Beverly connected at the plate.

Josh Cerretani was called in to relieve Nick Iannuzzi on the mound and Cerretani was able to get the final three outs of the game, reports the Salem News.

Peabody now plays Weston Thursday night (7:45 p.m.) and North Andover East on Friday (7:45 p.m.) All games in the Section 4 bracket are hosted by Wyoma Little League in Lynn.
