Peabody Fans Jubilant at Red Sox Win in World Series

Boston defeated St. Louis in Game 6 at Fenway Park, 6-1, to win its first World Series at home since 1918.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 of the World Series Wednesday night to claim the team's eighth championship and local fans jubilantly spread the news, whether that was celebrating in the streets of Boston or joining the flood of chatter on social media.

"From worst to first!" tweeted one Peabody fan. "Modell's here I come" said another.

"We just won the world series!!!! I can't even deal," tweeted another fan, followed up with: "Lol someone is lighting off fireworks down the street from my house."

"Bring those boys a TV!" a local firefighter tweeted in response to news that an attic fire was successfully knocked down at a home on Mcintyre Court right around the close of the ballgame.

"THE BOSTON RED SOX ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS! Congratulations to them and thank you to all the fans that came down tonight and supported the home team!!" the staff at Sylvan Street Grille posted via Facebook.

Over at Stonewood Tavern, the staff simply posted an update with a photo of Boston players rushing the field along with the words "World champs!"
