Book Recalls Peabody Man's Historic Victory Over Baseball Legend

Historic Peabody baseball star is mentioned in a biography about baseball great Hank Aaron.

Peabody Baseball Hall of Famer John Waselchuk was recently highlighted in a biography about baseball icon Hank Aaron; as was the game when he went up against Aaron and came out on top, according to an article in the Salem News.

His mention in the book, called “The Last Hero A Life of Henry Aaron” by Howard Bryant, was found by his grandson. Waselchuk was a star pitcher in South Atlantic League, or the Sally, in the 1950s and 60s. And it was in the early 1960s when Waselchuk struck out the baseball legend.

“It [the book] had been out two or three months before he [Waselchuk's grandson] saw it (released in 2010). Aaron called me ‘the pip-squeak of Peabody, Mass.’"
