The Peabody Public Schools are going to be searching for another special education director very soon.

Superintendent Joe Mastrocola informed the School Committee last week that Kathleen Glennon will be retiring from her post, effective Aug. 31, reports the Peabody Weekly News.

He said the search process will begin soon and he hopes to have the position filled by July 1, reports the paper.

Glennon was hired in August 2012 to a two-year contract amid high praise from Peabody administrators. She had previously spent 27 years in teaching and administrative roles in special education in Amesbury and Marblehead.

Glennon is the district's third special education director since 2008.
