The Peabody Public Schools have cancelled class on Thursday because of the impending snowstorm.

All school activities have been cancelled.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service shows that Peabody could get as much as 8 inches of snow from the storm. Snow should begin to fall Thursday morning and intensify during the morning rush hour. Snow could turn to ice during the afternoon before changing back to snow Thursday night.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Thanks, Peabody.

Is there a reason we don't use the "Early Dismissal" option? I, for one, feel it is more of an inconvenience to extend the school year, than to disrupt a work day...

Agree, Valerie!! Great point!

This was the perfect situation for an early release. Would count as a full day and the kids would get home before the real messy stuff. I do, however, applaud the super for calling it this morning instead of last night...that way we are more certain of what is to come, and (hopefully) will avoid a repeat of a "snow day" with less than 2 inches of snow.
