Mayor to Recognize Peabody High Cross Country Champs

The girls' cross country team will receive some special citations from the mayor in recognition of its state crown this fall.

Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. will honor the 2012 PVMHS Girls Cross Country Division 1 All-State Champions at City Hall Thursday night, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wiggin Auditorium.

“The Girls Cross Country team performed at an exceptional level all season long culminating in a state championship,” Mayor Bettencourt said. “I look forward to recognizing each of them for their outstanding performance, teamwork and commitment to excellence.”

To help commemorate Peabody's first Division I crown in cross country since 1978, Mayor Bettencourt will present each team member and coach a special mayoral citation of achievement.

The Mayor will also unveil a set of distinctive road signs acknowledging the team’s triumph.
