Andeemae Sims was close to being crowned top speller during last year's Higgins Middle School Spelling Bee, but fell just short and finished in third.

That was last year. She didn't let that happen again.

The eighth-grader was v-i-c-t-o-r-i-o-u-s in the fourth annual event at the Northshore Mall on Wednesday

Thirty-one Higgins Middle School top spellers took part in the competition. All contestants received goodie bags and the top three winners received prizes donated by the Northshore Mall retailers and the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce.

By being tops in Peabody, Sims will go on to the Regional Spelling Bee.
