Downtown and South Peabody residents will be glad to hear this news -- Washington Street is scheduled to be paved this coming week.
Public Services Director Bob Langley said crews were sealcoating and patching around raised manholes this past week, along with repairing a water line near Dane Street and raising shutoff gate boxes by the gas company.
Paving itself will take place by the end of the week, he said.
"We are completing a large amount of work around the city," Langley said -- that includes roads, sidewalks, berms, islands, etc.
"Much of the roadwork will be completed before school starts so that motorists will have less impact at that time," he said.
