Serino, Toomey, Moutsoulas Weigh in on Ward 3, City Issues

The lone primary this year is in Ward 3. Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sept. 17 in the East End of the city.

Both Bill Toomey and Jim Moutsoulas, former veteran councilors, have run for mayor before and this is Tom Serino's second time running for a seat on the City Council. Moutsoulas also ran for state representative this past spring.

Toomey and Moutsoulas, while still active in local politics, have also both been out of elected office since the late 1990s. Serino has never held office before, but has been active in the community in other areas.

The primary in Ward 3 should be interesting, no matter how it turns out on Tuesday. All three men are running for the seat currently held by Rico Mello, who is stepping down after 10 years in office.

We recently caught up with each candidate for a Q&A on the issues they see ahead of them in Ward 3 (the East End of the city) and in Peabody in general. Click on the links to each Q&A below.
