Get a Free Flu Shot From the Health Department

As flu season approaches, health officials urge everyone to get an influenza vaccination as the best means of defense.

The Peabody Health Department has free flu shots available to residents 18 and older while supplies last.

If you'd like to schedule an appointment to get a free vaccination, call the Health Department at 978-538-5926 to schedule an appointment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone six months and older get a flu shot each year, saying it is the best protection against the flu.

This influenza vaccine provides protection against Influenza A/H1N1 (swine flu) as well as Influenza A/H3N2 and Influenza B, according to health officials.

“Although the amount of flu-like illness in Massachusetts is low right now, it’s important to remember that inmost years, flu season doesn’t peak until January or February. This means that this is an excellent time to get a flu vaccine. We urge everyone to get vaccinated to help stay healthy this season,” said Public Health Nurse Neia Illingworth.
