First Parking Ban of the Winter Declared in Peabody

The ban was called Saturday afternoon and will be in effect as of 4 p.m. until further notice.

The city is declaring an emergency parking ban effective 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The ban, which prohibits all on-street parking until further notice, comes as the first significant winter storm of the season is headed toward the Peabody area.

Snowfall predictions range from 6 to 10 inches, starting Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Sleet and freezing rain are also expected to enter the mix overnight.

The ban is declared and lifted under the discretion of the Department of Public Services.

Any vehicles left on the street during the ban may be subject to ticketing and/or towing.
