City Offers Free Flu Shots at Church Influenza Clinic

Anyone age 10 or older can receive a free flu shot Wednesday night at Comunidade de Cristo.

The Peabody Health Department, in collaboration with the Comunidade de Cristo church, has announced a free flu vaccine clinic for individuals ages 10 years and older.

The clinic will be held at the Comunidade de Cristo church, located at 67 Tremont St. in Peabody, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Vaccine will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is no fee for the vaccine. There are no residency restrictions, and Portuguese interpreters will be available. Children under 18 MUST be accompanied by parents/guardians. Vaccine is available in the injectable format and provides protectionagainst Influenza A/H1N1 influenza as well as two other influenza viruses, Influenza A/H3N2 and Influenza B.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourages everyone six months and older to get vaccinated against the flu. The flu vaccine is now widely available and is your best protection against the flu.

“This is now the fourth consecutive year that our Health Department has collaborated with the Comunidade de Cristo church for this important public health initiative. We are grateful for the continued support of the Comunidade de Cristo church and are excited to offer free flu vaccinations to our residents. It is not too late to get your flu vaccine and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated in order to help keep you and your family healthy this season,” said Neia Illingworth, Public Health Nurse for the city of Peabody.
