City Enacts Parking Ban

The city has declared an emergency parking ban effective 9 p.m. Wednesday, as a nor'easter bears down on the Peabody area.

No on-street parking will be allowed until further notice. Violators of the ban may be ticketed and towed.

If a vehicle is parked on the tree lawn, is it considered on or off the street?

Anon, what exactly do you mean by the "tree lawn?" I *can* tell you that the city won't allow you to park on the sidewalk as an alternative to the street.

The narrow strip of lawn between the sidewalk and the street.

I think it would be safe to say that would still be considered parking on the sidewalk.

Sorry anon but I think John is right...I have seen more than a few cars ticketed for parking exactly where you describe (during previous snow emergencies).

That's fine with me. Have neighbors who do it, and it does cause plowing problems. But have never seen them ticketed.

I've seen it downtown (Washington Street, Clement Ave) more than other parts of the city...probably less likely to get a ticket on side streets etc.
