City Adds Another Yard Waste Collection Pickup

The City of Peabody received many requests from residents for another yard waste collection.

Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt said the city will have an additional yard waste collection after receiving a large number of requests from residents.

During the week of June 9, on normal trash pickup days, residents can leave yard waste curbside in paper bags and barrels. No yard waste in plastic bags will be accepted.

All yard waste should be picked up no later than 3 p.m. Some haulers may pick up regular trash first and then return later in the day to pick up the yard waste. There is no charge for curbside yard waste collection.

“My office has received many calls from residents who need an additional opportunity to dispose of their grass clippings and other yard waste,” said Bettencourt.

In addition to the curbside collection, residents can take their yard waste to the Department of Public Services, 50 Farm Ave., any weekday during regular business hours. The Department of Public Services is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
