Fire Knocked Down at Two-Family Home on Mcintyre Court

The home is located in the downtown area off Tremont Street.

Peabody firefighters reported they knocked down the flames after about 45 minutes at the scene of a working house fire in a downtown neighborhood Wednesday night.

According to scanner reports, it appears the fire was contained to an attic of a two-family home on Mcintyre Court.

An electrical fire was initially reported in a second-floor bathroom shortly after 11 p.m. at 7 Mcintyre Ct.

Firefighters responding to the scene said heavy smoke was visible from a room and the situation quickly escalated to where flames were shooting through the roof from the attic around 11:20 p.m.

According to scanner reports, the home is a 2-1/2 story wooden-framed structure. Four engines were called to the scene and Mutual Aid provided station coverage.

By 11:50 p.m., the incident commander reported two hose lines were running and the fire was knocked down.

According to scanner reports, neighboring homes had been evacuated.
