Family members of Solanlly Paulino, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in a Keys Drive apartment in Peabody, said they tried to get her away from her violent boyfriend.

But she kept moving back with Franklin Castano.

Castano turned himself in at Lynn Police on Thursday after reportedly murdering his girlfriend in their Keys Drive residence. Castano has a history of domestic abuse, including threatening Paulino with a machete and butcher knife in 2012.

“She would move out and he wouldn’t let go. She would move back in with her mom and he would still come,” the victim’s aunt, Yolanda Paulino, told the Boston Herald. “I never liked him. Very obsessive. Very controlling. Thinking he was all that. He could be here and I wouldn’t even say hi to him.”

Paulino was a Salem State University student and nanny. She was finishing her degrees in social work and early childhood education, according to her profile on SitterCity, a site devoted to connecting sitters with families.

“I love children and have always been taking care of children, although I don 't have any of my own. I am loving, caring, and above all very flexible for hours,” Paulino wrote.

At the time of writing her profile, Paulino said she was a nanny for 5 ½-year-old triplet girls and their 11-month-old brother.

I hope this scum bag rots in jail for the rest of his useless life. RIP Miss Paulino

Our prayers are with the family. Real men take care of others and cause no harm. Such a sad read.
