Underage Party Ends With 1 to Hospital in Serious Condition, 5 Facing Charges

An underage party at a West Peabody home ended with one intoxicated juvenile in serious condition while four juveniles were facing charges for possession of alcohol and an adult was charged with providing the alcohol for the party.

One female juvenile was taken to the hospital in serious condition early Friday morning after police were alerted to an underage party in West Peabody.

Peabody police received a call at 3:43 a.m. on Dec. 28 and arrived at a Videtta Street home to find a female who was intoxicated and unresponsive. She was taken to North Shore Children's Hospital by ambulance.

Police then issued court summonses to four juveniles for being minors in possession of alcohol. It was unclear from the initial report in the police log if the female patient was among the four.

An officer said that once he completed his investigation and checked the proper identification, a white male would also be issued a court summons for procuring alcohol for minors.

The man in question did not appear to live at the Videtta Street home.

Why do we see this happen more in the higher socioeconomic areas of cities than in the downtown areas? Oh, yeah, because our parents hammered "responsibility" into our heads. Jail time should be on the horizon for some parents and this "man in question!"

Were the parents even home?

Downtown versus higher social economic areas. Are you kidding. Ridiculous. Read the blotter. Compare crime percentages.

Could it be that neighbors in more suburban areas are quicker (and more likely) to call the cops about loud parties? There is a level of distrust of police in "inner city"neighborhoods. What do you think?
