Thief Absconds With Cooking Oil From Wardhurst

The following are excerpts from reports in the press log from Dec. 8-13.

Thursday, Dec. 8

• 2:05 p.m. A caller at a Tanners Court residence reported someone broke a window overnight with a brick.
• 3:02 p.m. A Washington Street resident reported that his window was broken by youths walking by the building. An officer reported one of them dropped a math book and he would be following up with the juvenile’s parents.
• 3:04 p.m. A caller reported there was a seagull with a bottle stuck on its head in the parking lot near the . The animal control officer was unable to locate the bird.
• 3:27 p.m. A male passenger from a car that had been pulled over by an officer on Chestnut Street fled the vehicle on foot toward the railroad tracks. Police said the man looked Hispanic, was missing teeth and wearing a baseball cap. He was last seen near the .
• 3:33 p.m. A 20-year-old Lynn male was issued a summons for driving recklessly to endanger and a marked lanes violation, following a two-car accident on Washington Street. The male was taken to Salem Hospital with injuries and both cars were towed away.
• 6:29 p.m. A caller on Central Street reported someone shot BB gun pellets into his window.
• 7:08 p.m. Mall security reported a person tried to buy a TV in the parking lot outside and was the victim of a scam. Police said the person tried to buy two TVs for $1,200, led to believe they were overstock from the store. The suspect had left the area and headed into the mall.
• 9:03 p.m. A caller at the reported her car was broken into. A Kenneth Cole bag, a Blackberry, $11 in cash, a driver’s license and a bankcard were stolen.

Friday, Dec. 9

• 5:04 a.m. A caller at on Lynnfield Street reported a break-in. Police said the owner believed the person entered through the garage door; there were no signs of forced entry. Nothing was missing at the time.
• 6:41 a.m. An iPod Touch was stolen from an unlocked car on Beeman Road.
• 7:40 a.m. A caller on Shore Drive reported her father’s car was stolen. The vehicle was recorded as stolen and Saugus police later reported finding the vehicle in their town.
• 8:08 a.m. Police received a report of a vehicle with a damaged ignition on Shore Drive. The car was towed to the station for fingerprinting.
• 8:24 a.m. Police received a report of three car break-ins overnight on Nichols Lane.
• 1:13 p.m. A caller reported her purse was stolen at Haven from Hunger on Dec. 9 around 10:45 a.m.
• 4 p.m. Two 15-year-old juveniles were each issued summonses for two counts of shoplifting; one teen was charged with price tag tampering.
• 6:35 p.m. A cell phone was stolen from an unlocked car on Winona Street.
• 7:29 p.m. A caller on Keyes Drive reported someone was following her. She said the person entered her motor vehicle while it was parked at and placed a note inside for her. She said it was an ongoing problem with the same person and the same situation.

Saturday, Dec. 10

• 12:18 a.m. A clerk at the gas station on Route 1 reported a customer drove off without paying for $9 in gas.
• 1:32 p.m. A caller on Lowell Street reported her prescription narcotics were stolen.
• 4:38 p.m. A past car break-in was reported at a Sylvan Street business.
• 4:54 p.m. A 31-year-old Peabody man was issued a summons for larceny over $250, following a report from a Tracey Street resident that the man stole $3,000 from his safe.
• 5:14 p.m. A caller on Andover Terrace reported that her next-door neighbors were burning tires. The responded to the scene and said there was a small campfire burning. The resident put it out.
• 5:42 p.m. A female caller requested a well-being check on a male employee at a Lowell Street business. She said the male was intoxicated and left a message, saying he was “locked and loaded.” Police said they spoke with a 43-year-old Beverly man outside the business who refused medical treatment.
• 8:46 p.m. A caller on Fairmount Road reported his wallet was stolen from his taxicab. The wallet contained $20 and miscellaneous items.

Sunday, Dec. 11

• 1:43 a.m. Police and fire crews responded to a motor vehicle rollover on Lowell Street. The driver, a 17-year-old male, was transported to Salem Hospital. Police said the black 2003 Saab hit a fire hydrant.
• 2:23 a.m. Police and fire crews responded to a report of a car into a tree on Herrick Road. Officers found the car lodged against the side of a house and both were on fire. .
• 4:36 a.m. Public Services was notified of a significant water main break on Perley Avenue.
• 8:11 a.m. A caller on Fulton Street reported her 18-year-old son took her TV from her apartment. Police said the TV was a 42-inch set.
• 2:56 p.m. Store security at asked an officer to review surveillance footage of a suspect who was stealing coats from the store. Police said the officer would follow up with security to identify the suspect and file charges.
• 7:20 p.m. The manager at reported the rear window on a patron’s car was smashed and packages were taken from the vehicle. Police said nothing of value was taken, however.
• 7:44 p.m. The Fire Department reported a man down in front of the Lynn Street station. Police spoke with two males who were fighting in front of Engine 5 and issued summonses to both Peabody residents. One man, 40, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot) while the other man, 44, was charged with making threats to commit murder and operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle. The elder man said he would seek medical attention on his own.

Monday, Dec. 12

• 8:07 a.m. An officer reported a large amount of water was on Railroad Avenue near the courthouse – a possible water break. The was notified.
• 8:38 a.m. A female was transported to Salem Hospital after a two-car accident at . Police said one of the drivers might have had a seizure.
• 12:12 p.m. Officers assisted North Reading police with confiscating firearms from a unit at the Pine Grove mobile home park on Route 1. Police said the man’s license to carry was suspended. North Reading officers took possession of the guns.
• 3:10 p.m. A resident on Washington Street reported a problem with youths who broke his window the week before. An officer said there wasn’t any new damage; the youngsters just pushed in the window that had been taped up.
• 4:15 p.m. Police received a report of a deer on the grass near an on-ramp to Route 128 from Route 114. Police said the deer stayed off to one side and wasn’t causing any traffic obstacles.
• 5:33 p.m. A caller on Winona Street reported her house was burglarized earlier in the day. Police said there were no signs of forced entry. A fire safe, containing assorted jewelry and papers, was taken.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

• 8:05 a.m. A female caller at the reported a coworker tried to run her off the road. An officer assisted school administrators in handling the issue. No citations or charges were filed at the time.
• 12:16 p.m. A caller reported a goose was walking in and out of traffic on Lowell Street near . The animal control officer said the goose was nowhere to be seen when she arrived.
• 1:49 p.m. A caller reported the theft of some cooking oil from the . No further details were available.
