Police Log: Shoplifter Arrested After Fleeing Mall

Friday, May 9

At 5:17 p.m., police summonsed a 50-year-old Nahant man to court and charged him with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police summonsed the man during a traffic stop on Lynn Street.

At 6:02 p.m., police responded to Lincoln Street concerning a call about youths with guns. Police spoke to the youths who had paintball guns. They went in for the night.

At 7:46 p.m., police received a call from Shaw’s about two juvenile shoplifters. They were released to a family member.

At 8:04 p.m., an H&M employee reported a shoplifting. The store said it would handle the matter.

At 8:09 p.m., a Peabody resident reported someone fraudulently spent more than $9,000 on a credit card. Police took a report.

Saturday, May 10

At 2:19 a.m., police responded to Lynnfield Street after a driver struck a tree. The driver was taken to Union Hospital.

At 5:09 a.m., police arrested Furcy L. Ferreras, 25, 14 Bourbon St., Apt. 32, Peabody, and charged him with violating an abuse prevention order, malicious destruction of property more than $250 and disorderly conduct.

At 10:21 a.m., a Northend Street resident reported a bicycle was stolen from his yard.

At 11:28 a.m., police arrested Francisco Velez, 45, 129A Chatham St., Lynn, and charged him with shoplifting by concealing merchandise, disorderly conduct and a warrant for shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Police made the arrest after a report of a shoplifter at Sears. Velez left the store, but police arrested him on Loris Avenue.

At 2:13 p.m., a woman reported that an unknown man gave her daughter an activity set with coloring supplies while they were at Kennedy Field. She did not see the man’s face, but said he was riding a bike and described him as a bald white male, between 40 and 50 years old, who was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was wearing a yellow traffic vest.

At 4:22 p.m., police responded to a three-car accident on Tremont Street. Police closed Tremont Street for a short time. Two cars were towed. There were no reported injuries.

At 8:04 p.m., police responded to a head-on crash at Lowell and Newbury streets. Two people were taken to Lahey Clinic and both cars were towed.

At 9 p.m., police responded to Yale Street after a driver struck a tree. There were no injuries. The car was towed.

At 10:29 p.m. police responded to Centennial Drive after a car jumped a guardrail. There were no reported injuries. The car was towed.

 

Sunday, May 11

At 12:53 a.m., police arrested Kevin G. Weaver, 51, 12 Anderson St., Peabody, and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon.

At 10:56 a.m., police responded to Washington Street after a two-car accident. There were no injuries. One car was towed.
