Police Log: Peabody Woman Charged with Drunk Driving After Nearly Striking Poles

Friday, March 21

At 4:53 p.m., a Peabody resident reported identity fraud.

At 5:09 p.m., a Joy Road resident reported a gold ring with diamonds was stolen. The ring is valued at $1,800. She reported that her stepson is a suspect. Police took a report.

At 8:56 p.m., an Elmwood Circle resident reported that someone shot something through a sliding door, breaking the door and damaging a screen door. Police spoke to two youths, who admitted to shooting an airsoft gun. The youths’ parents took the gun and will said they will talk to the homeowner about paying for damages.

At 9:31 p.m., a Forest Street resident reported that an injured muskrat bit her and injured her dog. Police took a report.

Saturday, March 22

At 12:41 a.m., a cab driver reported that a customer refused to pay cab fare and ran off. Police identified the person who agreed to pay the cab fare.

At 6:30 a.m., an officer saw a small water break at Central and Walnut streets. Police notified the Department of Public Services.

At 6:57 a.m., police documented graffiti at St. Vasilios Church.

At 9:18 a.m., the owner of a Newbury Street business reported that a car was stolen over the past month.

At 10:58 a.m., police arrested Richard D. Hofacre, 57, homeless, and charged him on three warrants for trespassing, violating a municipal bylaw or ordinance and aggravated assault and battery. Police made the arrest on Washington Street.

At 11:51 a.m., police received a call about an injured swan on Lynnfield Street. Police contacted the Massachusetts Environmental Police Department, but they were unable to check the swan. It went into the water and appeared OK.

At 1:53 p.m., an employee at the YMCA said someone entered a guest’s locker, stole keys, entered a vehicle and stole a wallet and cell phone from the vehicle.

At 4:13 p.m., police summonsed a 23-year-old Lynn woman and charged her with shoplifting by concealing merchandise after a report of a shoplifter at J.C. Penney.

At 8:53 p.m., police summonsed a 28-year-old Lynn man to court and charged him with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police summonsed the man after the report of a driver swerving and almost hitting three vehicles. Police pulled over the vehicle on Endicott Street and found the vehicle had a revoked registration. The car was towed and the person was summonsed to court.

At 9:25 p.m., police arrested a 17-year-old female and charged her with domestic assault and battery.

At 11:18 p.m., police arrested Claudia Hammes Ferro, 47, 30 King St., Apt. 3, Peabody, and charged her with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor. Police responded to Lowell Street after a report of an intoxicated driver nearly striking multiple poles and swearing in the road. Police pulled over Ferro in Peabody Square and made the arrest.

 

Sunday, March 23

At 10:03 a.m., police arrested Scott A. Webber, 30, 170 Newbury St., Apt. 11, and charged him with possessing a Class A drug with the intent to distribute. Police made the arrest on Newbury Street.

At 1:46 p.m., a Sears employee reported detaining shoplifters. The store said it would handle the matter internally.
