Police Log: Peabody Man Sends $3,300 in 'Prison' Scam

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Feb. 10

At 2:44 p.m., a Peabody police cruiser was involved in an accident. There was damage to the rear left part of the cruiser. There were no reports of injuries.

At 2:45 p.m., a Peabody man said he was scammed out of $3,300. The man sent the money after a scammer told him his grandson was in jail and needed the money to get out of jail.

At 3:31 p.m., a Peabody resident reported credit card fraud.

At 4:29 p.m., police responded to Lowell Street about a car driving on three tires and a rim. Police pulled over the vehicle on Endicott Street. The car was towed.

At 10:27 p.m., police arrested John Allen McCormack, 53, 252 Newbury St., Apt. 102, Peabody, and charged him on warrants for three counts of violating an abuse prevention order.

Tuesday, Feb. 11

At 6:39 a.m., police arrested Harrison Carr, 24, 18 Cherry St., Wenham, and charged him on warrants for operating a motor vehicle without a license, a motor vehicle lights violation, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker and two counts of possessing a Class E substance, and summonsed a 23-year-old Beverly woman to court and charged her with allowing for the improper operation of a motor vehicle and not having a license in her possession. Police made the arrest during a motor vehicle stop on Newbury Street.

At 11:48 a.m., police summonsed a 28-year-old Lynn man to court and charged him with operating a motor vehicle without a license. Police pulled over the man at Lowell Street.
