Police Log: Officers Arrest Man After He Jumped Out of Window Trying to Evade Police

Monday, May 26

At 2:22 p.m., police received a call about a stolen cell phone from Crane Brook Way.

At 5:38 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Lowell and Newbury streets. There were no injuries. One car was towed.

At 8:19 p.m. police arrested Michael Rompa, 38, 8 Elliott Place, Apt. 1, Peabody, and charged him with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and on a warrant for assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon. Police were serving an arrest warrant on Littles Lane when Rompa reportedly jumped out of a second-floor window to evade police and fled on foot. Police arrested Rompa on Sanborn Street and he was taken to Lahey for treatment of his injuries.

Tuesday, May 27

At 9:52 a.m., police responded to Forest Street about a truck hitting wires and a fence. The driver fled the scene. Police are investigating.

At 10:03 a.m., police received a call from Railroad Avenue after a car was reported stolen.

At 11:39 a.m., police responded to a three-car accident on Lowell Street. One person was taken to Salem Hospital. One vehicle was towed from the scene.

At 12:24 p.m., a Peabody resident reported a phone scam. The resident said she sent $8,000 to someone claiming to be her grandson, who said he was in trouble with the law.
