Police Log: Lynn Man Charged With Drunk Driving After Striking Pole

Sunday, May 18

At 2:02 p.m., police arrested Ihab Yacoub, 48, 364 Old Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario, and charged him with shoplifting by concealing merchandise and resisting arrest. Police made the arrest after responding to Sears about a shoplifter. Yacoub was arrested in front of Kappy’s. He was given a five-year no trespass order from the Northshore Mall.

At 2:45 p.m., a Beverly woman reported that her vehicle was stolen from Washington Place.

At 3:44 p.m., police arrested Leon T. Gaul, 33, 72 Kingdale St., Apt. 1, Boston, and charged him with receiving stolen property more than $250 and shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense). Police made the arrest after a report of a shoplifter at Macy’s.

At 7:29 p.m., police placed a 46-year-old Peabody man into protective custody after a report of a man staggering on Centennial Drive.

At 9:27 p.m., police placed a 31-year-old Beverly woman into protective custody after a disturbance call on Jubilee Drive.

At 11:51 p.m., police arrested Daniel E. Whalen, 32, 483 Chatam St., Lynn, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked licnese and a marked lanes violation. Police made the arrest after a driver struck a pole at Lynn and Bartholomew streets. The vehicle was towed.


Monday, May 19

At 5:47 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Lynn Street and Overlea Avenue. Three people were taken to area hospitals. Both vehicles were towed.

At 9:14 a.m., police responded to Lynnfield Street about tools missing from a garage.

At 1:28 p.m., a person reported that a person stole a purse containing $300, a cell phone, credit cards and her license from a parked car on Howley Street.
