Police Log: Bomb Squad Called After Suspicious Item Left at Transfer Station

Tuesday, July 8

At 3:14 p.m., police responded to Gardner Street after a car struck a tree. Two people were taken to Salem Hospital.

At 4:26 p.m., police responded to the bike path after a report of an elderly driver driving a small red motor vehicle on the bike path. Police went the whole length of the path, but didn’t see the driver.

At 7:10 p.m., police responded to Margin Street after a dog ran out of a house and got hit by a car. The dog appeared OK.

At 7:14 p.m., a Central Street resident reported that someone kicked his air conditioner. He thinks it may have been neighborhood children. There was $200 worth of damage to the air conditioner and window frame.

At 7:46 p.m., a Macy’s employee reported two juvenile shoplifters. The store handled the matter.

Wednesday, July 9

At 9:58 a.m., police responded to the Peabody Transfer Station on Forest Street concerning a suspicious item that was dumped there. Peabody Fire and the State Police Comb Squad also responded. They checked the item and found there was no problem.
