Police Arrest Worcester Woman for Eastern Bank Robbery

According to police, investigations into similar incidents in other jurisdictions are ongoing.

Peabody police say a Worcester woman was arrested Monday and charged with the robbery at Eastern Bank this past Friday.

Marnie Tomasian, 40, of Worcester was located in Chelsea and taken into custody without incident, according to a press release Monday evening. Police had obtained a warrant on a charge of armed robbery.

Tomasian will be arraigned in Peabody District Court on Tuesday. Police also say similar incidents remain under investigation in other jurisdictions.

The suspect in Friday's robbery allegedly entered the bank at 102 Lynn St. and passed a note to a teller, demanding money and threatening she had a weapon, according to police.

No weapon was shown, however, during the robbery, and the suspect fled the area in a car.

The subsequent investigation was headed up by Peabody Detective Robert Church and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.

Police say Tomasian was tracked down thanks to an anonymous tipster who had seen social media posts with the suspect's photo.
