Peabody police say a Worcester woman was arrested Monday and charged with the robbery at Eastern Bank this past Friday.

Marnie Tomasian, 40, of Worcester was located in Chelsea and taken into custody without incident, according to a press release Monday evening. Police had obtained a warrant on a charge of armed robbery.

Tomasian will be arraigned in Peabody District Court on Tuesday. Police also say similar incidents remain under investigation in other jurisdictions.

The suspect in Friday's robbery allegedly entered the bank at 102 Lynn St. and passed a note to a teller, demanding money and threatening she had a weapon, according to police.

No weapon was shown, however, during the robbery, and the suspect fled the area in a car.

The subsequent investigation was headed up by Peabody Detective Robert Church and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.

Police say Tomasian was tracked down thanks to an anonymous tipster who had seen social media posts with the suspect's photo.

they never would have caught this bank robber without the anonymous tip. This police department is in desperate need of new blood and new leadership.

I wouldn't have said a word if I knew who this woman was, I have a business in town that had an expensive sign worth $500 stolen by a crack addict who collects scrap metal and sells it. We had 2 eye witnesses who saw him take it, I had to go around to ask other business owners in the area if they knew who the person is and several know him, we got his vehicle info and the police won't even take a report or investigate! They only investigate when something happens to big brother! The banks are thieves , I could care less if they get robbed, I look the other way when something happens to them!

That's the sentiment of most of the city these days towards the Peabody police department. The mayor must have blinders on. The crackheads and dopers are taking over the city, and these guys don't or can't deal with it. The old saying "They can't even catch a cold" comes to mind.

It seems like there is a large population of drug addicts that frequent the corner of Peabody square, on the benches next to the parking lot across from the China Corner. Why do the police allow them to loiter all day, everyday? I've seen them frequently sneak off down the train tracks to shoot up or do other illegal activities, but nobody stops them.

They allow it because it doesn't draw any revenue into the treasury! The police would rather write $200 tickets for someone who goes 15 miles over the so called speed limit or they are too busy looking after important people and protecting them ( notice how there is a strong police patrol in neighborhoods where certain city employees live) like I said they only look after big brother!

I hear ya mark.I watched the DPW put a new sidewalk in front of city hall employees house when it wasn't bad at all. Across the street its a mess but they left it alone. Go figure it was the only section they replaced!
