The suspect vehicle -- a red Nissan sedan -- fled the scene up the street toward Wilson Square and was last scene heading toward Danvers. According to initial reports, the car was driven by a Hispanic looking male.

The victim was taken to Mass. General Hospital and a state police accident reconstruction team was called to the scene.

Around 9:10 p.m., Danvers police were reporting a female resident had turned herself in at the Danvers station in connection with the accident.

According to reports, the female lives on Fowler Street and left her car parked there before walking the short distance to the station.

A wrecker was called to the scene to tow the damaged vehicle back to Peabody.
