Christmas Gifts Reported Stolen on Sherman Street

The following is an excerpt from the Peabody Police Department's log: 


Monday Dec. 23


  • At 1:39 p.m., the local animal control officer issued a 10-day quarantine to a dog owner on Bellfast Street.
  • At 2:17 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Andover Street. Mama Howard, 19, of 50 Bessom St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of shoplifting merchandise valued above $100 by concealment and two counts of receiving stolen property.
  • At 3:18 p.m., an employee at a gas station on Newbury Street called police to report that a counterfeit $50 was passed sometime on Sunday.
  • At 5:19 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Sears on Andover Street. Joanna Peralta, 36, of Beverly, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment, third offense.
  • At 6:25 p.m., police responded to a report of unattended children left in a motor vehicle in the Toys R Us parking lot on Andover Street. Police spoke with the mother, who said she felt her 10-year-old was old enough to watch her 5-year-old.
  • At 6:41 p.m., police responded to a report of stolen Christmas gifts on Sherman Street.
  • At 7:00 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Orchard Terrace.
  • At 7:23 p.m., police responded to a report of people yelling at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
  • At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on Main Street.
  • At 10:34 p.m., police responded to a report of someone laying in a snowbank on County Street. 

Tuesday, Dec. 24:

  • At 12:08 a.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Rockdale Park.
  • At 12:09 a.m., police responded to a loud party on Crowninshield Street.
  • At 8:07 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lake Street.
  • At 8:11 a.m., police responded to a water main break on Manomet Road.
  • At 10:11 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Walnut Street.
  • At 1:24 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Stop & Shop on Howley Street.
  • At 6:14 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lowell Street. Monica V. Silva, 28, of 5 Veterans Memorial Drive, Peabody, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
  • At 8:18 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Andover Street.
  • At 11:20 p.m., police responded to a loud party on Main Street.

Wednesday, Dec. 25

  • At 7:23 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lynnfield Street.
  • At 8:14 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lowell Street.
  • At 8:52 a.m., a Benevento Circle resident called police to report that two vehicles were egged overnight.
  • At 9:26 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Andover Street.
  • At 9:51 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lowell Street.
  • At 11:25 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lowell Street.
