Peabody Man Hospitalized, Charged With Heroin Possession

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from Sept. 12-13.

Thursday, Sept. 12

  • 1:18 p.m. A caller reported there was a suspicious item placed on the railroad tracks near Franklin Street. Police said it was just trash.
  • 2:25 p.m. A 31-year-old Chelsea man was transported to Salem Hospital after a four-car accident on Lowell Street near Antoine's Sunoco. Three of the vehicles were towed from the scene.
  • 2:27 p.m. One person was transported to North Shore Children's Hospital in Salem after a single-vehicle crash near Bishop Fenwick on Margin Street.
  • 3:26 p.m. A caller on Mill Street reported a past hit-and-run accident that left damage to a fence.
  • 6:03 p.m. A manager at Ulta Cosmetics reported a person walked out of the store without paying for merchandise. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a white tee shirt, black basketball shorts and a backwards Red Sox cap. The male was last seen walking on foot toward the Northshore Mall (the store is located to the rear of the mall).
  • 7:48 p.m. A caller reported a male was beating up a teenager outside a home at Tanners Court. The male left the area in a gray car heading down King Street toward Lowell Street. An officer said no one at the home wanted to cooperate, however, and refused to provide anymore information.
  • 9:39 p.m. Police said a 21-year-old man driving a Nissan 350z struck a tree on Forest Street near Salem Country Club after he swerved to avoid hitting a squirrel in the road. The driver wasn't injured, but his car was towed away.
  • 11:36 p.m. An officer reported Prospect Street was flooded. DPS was notified.
  • 11:44 p.m. An officer reported Ellsworth Road at the corner of Kendall Street was flooded. DPS was notified.

Friday, Sept. 13

  • 8:16 a.m. A caller on Pontiac Road reported a suspicious man came to the door and asked if she had any money or if there was any money inside her home. Officers located the man and said several people in the neighborhood had a problem with him. He was no longer welcome at his mother's house and he was sent on his way and told to not return to the area.
  • 9:09 a.m. A caller reported a tree was down on the sidewalk and sticking into the road near 611 Lowell St. DPS was notified.
  • 9:56 a.m. A caller at a Washington Street apartment reported she believed her son broke in -- she did not want him there -- and she asked for police to respond and "nicely ask him to leave." Police said the 24-year-old man left without incident.
  • 11:18 a.m. Police received reports of an out-of-control person in the emergency room at Lahey Clinic. A 21-year-old woman was subsequently issued a court summons for malicious destruction of property. Police said they also checked her residence because she made several concerning statements about a male roommate.
  • 2:03 p.m. Police received a report of two shoplifters causing a problem at the Hollister store at the Northshore Mall. James Teheen, 38, of Revere, was arrested and charged with one count of shoplifting (third offense) and a 35-year-old Lowell man was issued a court summons on a charge of shoplifting. Both men were also given no trespassing orders at the mall property.
  • 2:47 p.m. An officer said a person had fallen on the street near 611 Lowell St. A cross country runner was given a ride back to the high school.
  • 3:34 p.m. A caller reported there was an abandoned car on Endicott Street that apparently rolled out of someone's driveway. Police located the vehicle near Evans Flowers and said it rolled down the street. The hood was up. The vehicle did come to a stop on its own without causing an accident or any damage.
  • 3:53 p.m. A 30-year-old Lynn woman was issued a court summons for shoplifting at Macy's.
  • 4:06 p.m. A caller reported a possible break-in at a Main Street apartment. Police said some cash was stolen from a purse.
  • 4:20 p.m. A caller at Petals on First Avenue reported a male possibly overdosed on drugs and wasn't breathing. Police arrived at the scene and said the male was now breathing and was taken to Lahey Clinic. The 29-year-old Peabody resident was also issued a court summons for possession of heroin and possession of a Class E drug.
  • 5:33 p.m. Maria A. Pires, 44, of Somerville, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise, following an investigation into an incident at the Hollister store.
  • 6:38 p.m. One person was taken to Mass. General Hospital with a laceration to the leg after a report of a fall at a home on Leblanc Drive.
  • 6:52 p.m. A Warren Street resident a theft from an EBT account.
  • 8:39 p.m. A female caller reported someone fraudulently utilized her checking account at TD Bank to cash two checks in the amount of $6,618, neither of which were hers.
  • 10:06 p.m. Security at the Tannery apartments on Crowninshield Street reported a resident was banging on the walls and they believed it was a medical issue. The person was transported to Salem Hospital.
  • 10:12 p.m. A caller on Russell Street reported a male was in his front yard and yelling about a missing set of keys. He said the man was possibly drunk and then got on a moped and headed toward toward Middleton, taking a left onto Boston Street.
