Over $100K in Valuables Stolen From Piercing Pagoda

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from Nov. 16-18.

Friday, Nov. 16

• 2:14 p.m. Danvers police reported they had a break-in in their town and the suspect matched a description of a Peabody resident. Police said the homeowner walked in on the suspect and a blue BMW was also seen in the area of the break-in.
• 3:23 p.m. Police arrested two individuals for drug possession after they pulled over two cars at the Northshore Mall near Nordstrom. Spencer Wessel, 26, of 57 Prospect St. #2, Woburn, was charged with possession of a Class A drug, and Malbin Hernandez, 24, of 79 Fayette St., Lynn, was charged with possession of a Class A drug and disorderly conduct.
• 3:37 p.m. A 17-year-old Peabody female was issued a court summons for larceny over $250, following a report of a disturbance at her apartment on Lowell Street. A female called 911 and told state police she "had a problem" at her apartment. She told police she was being attacked by her boyfriend and the phone was then disconnected. Officers investigating the incident said there was an argument between her and a male and she was issued a summons for a stolen laptop.
• 6:27 p.m. Store security at Abercrombie & Fitch reported a female was trying to return merchandise without a receipt. Police said a 24-year-old Randolph man and a 79-year-old Hyde Park woman were issued no trespassing orders on Simon Mall properties.
• 6:56 p.m. Pedro A. Neto, 47, of 2R Aaron St., Framingham, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Lake Street. He was charged with driving with a license revoked for being a habitual traffic offender and a lights violation.
• 7:02 p.m. A caller on Aborn Street reported a Cannon camcorder was stolen from the backseat of his car on Nov. 5.
• 8 p.m. An officer reported a larceny from Piercing Pagoda at the mall. Between Oct. 8 and Nov. 1, $19,469 in cash was taken along with $86,365 worth of merchandise.
• 10:45 p.m. A Perley Avenue resident reported an incident at the McVann-O'Keefe Rink in which a male allegedly grabbed a female's chest. Police said the parents agreed to convene and work it out.
• 11:14 p.m. A 33-year-old Peabody man was issued a court summons for driving with a suspended license, following a motor vehicle stop at the Lowe Mart Plaza. Police said they also confiscated a small amount of a Class B substance from the man.
• 11:22 p.m. Manuel J. Dasilva, 55, of 6 Gillis Dr., North Reading, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Lowell Street and Spiros Way. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Saturday, Nov. 17

• 6:11 a.m. A caller on Murray Street reported hearing multiple gunshots. Police said they received a second report of the same and checked the area, but didn't find anything. Police said the noises may have come from Middleton and asked Middleton police to check on the outdoor gun range there.
• 10:09 a.m. A female resident reported she was being harrassed by a male from Beverly via text messages. She said the situation had actually existed for a couple years. She was advised to get a harassment order from corut and to stop replying to texts from the person.
• 11:17 a.m. A caller at the Northshore Mall reported her driver's side window was smashed out, but nothing was taken from her vehicle.
• 11:48 a.m. State police responded to a report of a vehicle that rolled over on Route 128 South at Exit 25B. No further details were available.
• 11:55 a.m. A 59-year-old Peabody woman was transported to Salem Hospital after a two-car accident on Summit Street.
• 1:22 p.m. Chester F. Bowen III, 32, of 3 Arrowhead Trail, Ipswich, was arrested for shoplifting at Sears.
• 3:27 p.m. A caller on Holten Street reported her bedroom window was pushed in and money was taken from her apartment.
• 4:35 p.m. Police assisted firefighters with a lawn mower that caught on fire at a Butternut Avenue home.
• 5:15 p.m. A female driver was transported to Lahey Clinic with injuries after a four-car accident on Route 114 near Chandler's Ice Cream.
• 6:48 p.m. Police received a report of a sewage backup on Route 1 in front of the Royal Garden restaurant. DPS was notified. Police said there was no traffic hazard.
• 6:55 p.m. A caller on Foster Street reported his laptop computer was stolen from his apartment. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
• 7:48 p.m. A caller reported a past break-in at a Lynnfield Street home. Police said there were signs of forced entry via the front door of the home and multiple rooms were ransacked. Thousands of dollars in items were stolen.
• 8:41 p.m. A child was taken to North Shore Children's Hospital with a leg injury, following a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian on Walter Road.
• 8:54 p.m. A Peabody woman reported someone fraudulently opened a Best Buy credit card account under her name. She said one purchase was made and the fake card originated in North Carolina.
• 9:34 p.m. Police responded to a report of a fight in the road on Central Street. An officer said a road rage incident turned into a minor motor vehicle accident and then an assault between two men.
• 11:23 p.m. Report of a water main break at the corner of Lowell Street and Edgehill Road.
• 11:33 p.m. A caller reported a break-in on Sachem Road. Police said cash and documents were taken from a small safe inside the home. There were no signs of forced entry.

Sunday, Nov. 18

• 2:31 a.m. A caller on Nancy Avenue reported a teenage male knocked on her door, asking to come in. She described the teeen as wearing a baseball cap, baseball jacket and carrying an orange book. An officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the person.
• 9:08 a.m. A caller on Wentworth Road reported two bags of leaves were left on his front steps. He believed his neighbors were upset about where he put his leaves on his property and did it as retaliation.
