Outage After Truck Crash Leaves 800 in South Peabody Without Power

All customers, except for seven in the immediate area of the accident, had their power restored after about an hour.

A tractor-trailer crashed into a light pole near 104 Lynn St. shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday, splitting the pole and leading to a transformer fire.

According to initial reports, live wires did fall on the truck and the vehicle caught on fire. The fire was quickly doused by firefighters and crews from Peabody Municipal Light Plant were on the scene to make repairs.

PMLP media relations manager Jennifer Santoro says about 800 customers in South Peabody were left without power for about an hour.

Power was restored to all customers, except for seven in the immediate area of the accident, by 12:07 p.m., said Santoro. Crews were still working at the scene around 2 p.m.
