No Food at Party Leads to Talk of Guns

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from Nov. 29-30.

Thursday, Nov. 29

• 4:13 p.m. Police made a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Lowell and Baldwin streets to check on a driver who was going very slowly down Lowell St. The elderly male driver said he had an eye issue, but was very close to home.
• 4:31 p.m. A caller on Charlotte Street reported finding two or three needles next to a half-rotten tree stump. An officer disposed of the needles at Atlantic Ambulance.
• 4:34 p.m. A 24-year-old Revere woman was issued a court summons for shoplifting at JC Penney.
• 5:18 p.m. A caller at a trucking company on Summit Street reported receiving threats from a former employee. The caller said he received a cell phone call "threatening to get him and that he will find him."
• 6:08 p.m. A caller on Walker Road reported his home was broken into. Police said the front door was kicked in sometime between 2-4 p.m., someone disrupted some personal belongings and spit on the carpet, but nothing was removed from the home.
• 6:40 p.m. A 51-year-old Peabody man was issued a court summons for assault and battery, following a report of an assault at a Route 1 mobile home park.
• 7:06 p.m. One person was transported to Salem Hospital from a residence on Crane Brook Way for a heroine overdose. Police received a report of an overdose and said the person wasn't breathing and was turning blue.
• 10:17 p.m. A caller at a Pine Street apartment reported a past assault, but no further details were available.
• 10:40 p.m. An officer at a Washington Street residence reported there was a dispute between neighbors over trash barrels. The peace was restored.

Friday, Nov. 30

• 4:39 a.m. A woman at a Washington Street home reported people were standing over her bed threatening her. An officer checked the house and said no intruders were present. The woman then refused any further services.
• 10:11 a.m. An officer reported a past assault between two juveniles at Higgins Middle School.
• 11:07 a.m. A caller at a Foster Street apartment reported an 11-month-old child ingested Vaseline, but the parent then refused medical attention.
• 11:27 a.m. A bus driver reported a child about two years old was out on Endicott Street by himself. An officer said the child had escaped from his home unbeknownst to the caretaker. The boy was returned to his family.
• 12:45 p.m. Police responded to Pump It Up on Webster Street, following a report of a threat made by a customer. Police said the customer was upset due to fact there was no food included in the party she booked for Sunday. She then canceled the party and complained to the main office in Florida, saying "This is the reason why people bring guns to places." Police said they would contact the woman to inform her she is not welcome at the business in the future. The owner said she would be hiring private security for Sunday and was advised to call police if the disgruntled customer shows up.
• 1:48 p.m. The Fire Department extinguished a small trash fire on Walnut Street.
