More Information Emerges on Peabody Rape Case
Mark Papamechail has a lengthy criminal record, including multiple sexual assault charges.
The Peabody man who allegedly raped a woman earlier this month after meeting her on the dating website Plenty of Fish is a “serial rapist” and Level 2 sex offender.
The Salem News reported that Mark Papamechail, 51, 4 Stevens St., Peabody, met the alleged victim on the website, talked for two months and met for a lunch date at a Peabody restaurant.
They went back to his house to watch a movie when he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, threw her onto a bed and raped her. After the alleged rape, Papamechail reportedly asked the victim if he could see her again.

Papamechail turned himself in on March 12 after police issued a warrant for his arrest on two counts of aggravated rape (subsequent offense) and rape (subsequent offense).
The Salem News reported that the Peabody man has a long history of sexual assault charges and convictions, including a 1985 indecent assault and battery on a child, a 1987 rape of a female acquaintance, two rape charges in 1991 and two more rape charges in 1994. He has served prison time, including a four-year term, and now faces life in prison if convicted, reported the Salem News.
