Man Reports Scammer Needed Money for Bail

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it doesn't indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from June 18-19. 

Wednesday, June 19

  • 4:22 p.m. a caller reported a possible water main break on Lowell Street. The caller said water was shooting straight up from the road and the public works department was notified immediately. An officer reported that the road was starting to "buckle."
  • 6:28 p.m. a caller reported a road rage incident with a female on Newbury Street. The female party had left prior to arrival of an officer and the man did not wish to pursue the matter. 
  • 7:06 p.m. a caller reported that their pool house door was vandalized on Hog Hill Road. The door was broken. 
  • 7:41 p.m. a shoplifter was reported at J.C. Penney at the North Shore Mall. The accused man allegedly stole over $100 in merchandise. Police arrsted Gifty R. Samuels, 51, of 316A Essex St., Apt. A, Lynn. Samuels was charged with shoplifting by concealing over $100. 

Thursday, June 20

  • 12:03 a.m. a caller reported a domestic assault and battery on Washington Place. A 23-year-old female was summonsed to court on domestic assault and battery charges.
