Man Has Change of Heart, Doesn't Press Charges After Robbery at Knifepoint

A man was robbed in the downtown area Saturday night and appeared to know the culprit.

Peabody police say a man had a change of heart and decided not to press charges after being robbed at knifepoint Saturday night in the downtown.

Police responded to the area of Winter and Mason streets at 8:27 p.m. after a caller reported he was robbed by a male with a knife. He said the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.

The victim also identified the suspect by name and said he lives in Danvers. He told police the robber was in a blue Sport Utility Vehicle and possibly headed toward Danvers.

Danvers police were notified and said they would check the suspect's residence.

The victim, however, then told Peabody officers he "had a change of heart" and didn't want to press charges.
