Man Faces OUI Drugs and Other Charges After Fleeing Crash Scene

A 26-year-old Dorchester man was arrested early Thursday morning after crashing into a pole and leading officers on a foot chase.

A 26-year-old Dorchester man was arrested Thursday after crashing into a pole on Lynn Street and fleeing on foot.

Police chased the man from the scene around 1:21 a.m. He was taken first to Lahey Medical Center, Peabody, and then transported back to the police station around 3:22 a.m. The vehicle was towed away by Mallia's.

Bryan Cortez, 26, of Dorchester, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license (subsequent offense), giving a false name and address to a police officer and disorderly conduct.

According to a log entry, officers reported Cortez had a large amount of money on him ($1,047) and multiple cell phones. Officers said he may have tossed other items during the foot pursuit.
