Man Faces Multiple Assault Charges; 2 B&E Suspects Arrested

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log on Sept. 20-21.

Friday, Sept. 20

  • 4:23 a.m. A caller on Hillside Avenue reported she spotted someone breaking into her vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot toward Lynn. Police said there were two suspects -- a young male with a dog and a young female. It was the female who was spotted by the victim. A DVD player, checkbook and loose change were taken.
  • 4:46 a.m. A caller on Russell Street reported a car break-in. Joseph Fronduto, 20, of Saugus, was subsequently arrested about 30 minutes later near Stone Drive when another caller spotted a suspicious male in a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. Fronduto was charged with two counts of breaking and entering for a felony.
  • 7:12 a.m. A caller reported it appeared a vehicle parked behind the Jade Restaurant on Bourbon Street was broken into.
  • 8:38 a.m. A caller reported he was struck with a bottle near Giovanni's Roast Beef on Lowell Street, but he didn't see who hit him. Police checked the area, but couldn't find the man nor his pickup truck. There were also no witnesses to the incident and the man didn't answer any return calls to his phone by police.
  • 10:23 a.m. Joshua Gudis, 23, of 41 Glendale Ave., Peabody, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Tremont Street. He was charged with possession of a Class B drug, driving with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and a suspended registration.
  • 2:24 p.m. A caller reported an outdoor fire near abandoned railroad tracks on Pine Brook Drive.
  • 3:22 p.m. Eastern Bank reported a robbery by a female suspect. See related story.
  • 3:51 p.m. Police arrived at a home at 9 Ayer St. to execute a search warrant and discovered more than 100 marijuana plants growing inside the home. See related story.
  • 3:57 p.m. A caller at the Tannery Gardens on Foster Street reported a package was stolen again.
  • 4:45 p.m. A Peabody woman reported she was scammed out of $835 on an online loan application. She used PayPal for payment.
  • 5:22 p.m. A Granite Road resident reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it, but didn't take anything of value.
  • 5:44 p.m. A caller reported an elderly man was hitchhiking in front of the senior center. Police spoke to the man and advised him to go back inside.
  • 5:46 p.m. A caller on Glendale Avenue reported a car break-in to an unlocked vehicle. Some prescription medications were stolen.
  • 6:20 p.m. Two juveniles were issued court summonses, following a report of shoplifters at JC Penney.
  • 6:32 p.m. An officer reported multiple vehicles at Peabody High School were broken into and $60 in cash and miscellaneous store rewards were taken.
  • 8:10 p.m. A caller on Linden Road reported a possible prowler. Police said it was just a dog sitting on a couch.
  • 9:50 p.m. A caller reported a hit-and-run accident at Sal's Pizza on Lynnfield Street. There was damage to the driver's side mirror and door and to the rear passenger side door.

Saturday, Sept. 21

  • 1:07 a.m. Two females were issued court summonses for simple assault, following a report of a past incident at Lowell Street residence.
  • 2:15 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle outside the Verizon Wireless store on Route 114. Police said it was a person hired as private security for the iPhone release.
  • 4:53 a.m. Max F. Silva, 22, of 48 Tracey St. #1, Peabody, was arrested, following a report of a car break-in on Pleasant Street. He was charged with breaking and entering for a felony and disturbing the peace.
  • 6:46 a.m. A car -- a 1998 Mercedes e320 -- was broken into on Sutton Street. The back window was forced open and a bag was taken containing an iPhone charger, medication, cologne and a bracelet. The car was also vandalized -- there was a scratch on the trunk and the word "slut" was written in lipstick on the side and rear window.
  • 8:12 a.m. A caller at a Holten Street apartment reported his moped was stolen.
  • 12:24 p.m. One driver was transported to Salem Hospital after a two-car accident on Lowell Street.
  • 12:52 p.m. Stephen M. Domelowicz, 38, of 6 Pontiac Rd., Peabody, was arrested, following a report of an assault on Pontiac Road. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on an elderly person, domestic assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon and making threats to commit a crime. Police received a report of a male who was hit with a baseball bat. The assault allegedly occurred at Domelowicz' home. He was eventually located at a nearby park.
  • 3:23 p.m. A caller on Russell Street reported a car break-in. A cell phone was stolen.
  • 3:29 p.m. State police requested assistance for an altercation involving a knife at the Dunkin' Donuts at 117 Newbury St. State police said they had one person in custody. No further details were available.
  • 10:56 p.m. A manager at the Courthouse Pub reported two female customers, who were highly intoxicated, left without paying their tab. An officer reported the tab was paid and the females were sent on their way.
  • 11:47 p.m. An officer reported the "Entering Peabody sign on Lynn Street was spray-painted pink.
