Maine Man Wanted for Attempted Murder, Assault in Hotel Stabbing

Police say the victim and the suspect -- a Berwick, Maine resident -- knew each other.

According to police, the suspect in a stabbing at a Route 1 hotel early Wednesday morning is a Maine man.

Police arrived at Homewood Suites shortly after 1 a.m. to find a 47-year-old Beverly man in the lobby with a visible stab wound. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital in Boston for treatment and shortly thereafter, police sought a warrant for a 45-year-old Berwick, Maine resident.

Those warrant charges are for attempted murder, domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a knife).

Police said both men knew each other, but did not indicate what might have led to the stabbing.
