Lynn Man Wanted for Washington Street Shooting

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities have identified a suspect in last week's shooting at a Washington Street apartment that left one male with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Aquiles Antonio Bernabe-Deleon, 21, of Lynn, is now wanted on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a gun), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.  

A warrant was issued from Peabody District Court and Peabody police say Bernabe-Deleon should be "considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached."

Deputy Police Chief Martin Cohan said in a brief press statement Sunday evening that Bernabe-Deleon was identified with assistance from investigators from the district attorney's office and the Lynn Police Department's gang unit.

According to a description, Bernabe-Deleon is five-foot-five and weighs about 129 pounds. Police also released a headshot of the suspect, which is included with this story.

No further details were given about any relationship between the suspect and the victim, a 27-year-old man who suffered a non-fatal wound, although police have said they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
