Late Night Water Main Break Temporarily Closes Gardner Street
A large water main break closed part of Gardner Street Tuesday night.
Part of Gardner Street was shut down Tuesday night after a large water main break caused substantial buckling in the roadway.
Peabody police urged both motorists and pedestrians to stay away from the area due to safety concerns in an alert released shortly before 11:30 p.m. The break occurred in the area of 33 Gardner St. and the road was closed on either end of the break.
Police said the Department of Services was notified and was mustering a repair crew to the scene. Repairs were made overnight and police said the road was back open early Wednesday morning.
