Kids Shooting Paintballs at Passing Cars on Lowell Street

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from July 18-19.

Thursday, July 18

  • 4:08 p.m. a caller reported hearing someone screaming on Harrison Avenue. An officer stated that a child was playing a video game and got too excited. There was no issue. 
  • 4:53 p.m. a caller reported that her son's Mongoose bicycle was stolen sometime within the past 24 hours on Northend Street. 
  • 5:22 p.m. a caller reported that his cell phone, valued at $250, was stolen from him at the Tedeschi Food mart on Main Street. The suspect fled the area on foot. 
  • 7:12 p.m. a caller reported a white male that took a picture of a young child in a yard on Elm Place. A description of the man was given to all officers in the downtown area but they were unable to locate the individual matching the description. 
  • 9:12 p.m. a caller requested a well being check on a female on Lowell Street. Police responded and eventually arrested Michael Marciano, 41, of 126 Lowell St. Marciano was charged with disorderly conduct. 
  • 10:33 p.m. an employee reported a possible domestic disturbance in a hotel room at the Holiday Inn on Route 1. Police responded and arrested Joel Balink, 24, of 900 Beaver Road, Honey Brook, Penn. Balink was charged with domestic assault and battery and malicous destruction of property over $250. Another 31-year-old male was summonsed for domestic assault and battery. 
  • 10:54 p.m. a caller reported youths shooting paintballs at passing motor vehicle from a motor vehicle on Lowell Street near Edgehill Road. An officer checked the area but could not locate the youths. The caller did not want to report any damage. 
  • 11:42 p.m. a caller said that the back of her house on St. Ann's Avenue was egged. 

Friday, July 19

    • 9:41 a.m. a walk-in visitor at the police station reported a man that routinely speeds on Coolidge Avenue between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Police said they would forward the information to the head of traffic and watch commanders. 
    • 11:26 a.m. a caller reported a man sleeping in the bushes in front of Barnes and Noble at the North Shore Mall. 
    • 12:54 p.m. a 20-year-old female was summonsed for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, defective equipment and failure to display the owner's name. The motor vehicle was towed.
    • 1:57 p.m. a caller reported a fire in the bushes at Boston Children's North on Centennial Drive. The Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire quickly.
