Just a Zombie Walk in the Park

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from Oct. 5-7.

Friday, Oct. 5

• 2:02 p.m. A caller at a Washington Street home reported there was a dead skunk in the gutter in front of his house. Police advised him to call Public Services to dispose of the animal.
• 3:30 p.m. Police received a report of a blue Honda Civic that ran a red light near the Northshore Mall and almost hit a pedestrian in the process.
• 4:05 p.m. A caller reported a male was lying on the grass off the bike path near Su-Chang's on Lowell Street. The male appeared to be tired and needed a breather.
• 4:31 p.m. A caller reported a truck lost its load of timber, which then caused a traffic hazard in the intersection of County and Lynnfield streets. Police said the driver of the truck was able to retrieve the lumber and was tightening the load before continuing on his way.
• 5:08 p.m. A Danvers woman was transported to Beverly Hospital after a car accident on Route 128 near the Centennial Drive exit. Police and fire responded to the scene, along with state police. Four vehicles were damaged in the accident.
• 5:14 p.m. Police received a report of a possible active break-in at an Avalon Drive residence. Police said they would also speak to the next-door neighbor about that person's unit being broken into as well. Police said a gold Heinicke watch and a rolled up Japanese Yen were taken from the first unit. The burglar used a crow bar on the deadbolt lock on the front door. The resident said many of his other personal belongings were also rummaged through.
• 6:06 p.m. Julio Vasquez, 63, of 5 Lander St. #8, Lynn, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Lake Street and Penny Lane. He was charged with driving with a suspended license.
• 9:27 p.m. An officer reported an unresponsive male was in a vehicle parked outside the Golden Banana. Police said he was highly intoxicated and was taken to Lynn Union Hospital for evaluation. The male's parents were contacted and they picked up the keys to the car the following morning.
• 9:36 p.m. A caller at a Crane Brook Way unit reported someone was banging on her door. Police said no one was at the door; it might have been her boyfriend, who was possibly intoxicated. About 20 minutes later, the female called back, saying somebody was back banging on her door. This time, she said, it was a maintenance person. At 10:03 p.m., the maintenance staff called to report the homeowner was not cooperating regarding some damage inside the unit. Police said the workers made a forced entry into the unit and the lock was broken. They fixed the lock, but the homeowner would not speak further with police.
• 10:05 p.m. Police received a report of a past break-in at an Avalon Drive unit. Police said the front door was broken in and a Kindle reader was stolen.

Saturday, Oct. 6

• 1:44 a.m. Alicia E. Baldi, 30, of 286 Newbury St. #22, Peabody, was arrested at her residence for domestic assault and battery. A 30-year-old man was also issued a court summons on the same charge. A caller at Mobile Estates reported her neighbors were fighting.
• 2:33 a.m. A detail officer reported a vehicle was traveling south toward Peabody in the northbound lane from Exit 23 on Route 128 in Danvers. State police were also notified. Officers checked the area, but did not find anything.
• 9:20 a.m. Following up on a report of an unwanted guest, an officer reported there was a verbal argument between roommates at a Collins Street apartment. One of the roommates was issued a court summons for making threats to commit a crime.
• 10:12 a.m. A caller reported that on Sept. 23, his snowplow was stolen at Latitude Sports Clubs.
• 12:49 p.m. A male caller reported he received threats while working out at Workout World on Route 1.
• 1:16 p.m. A male driver was issued a court summons for driving recklessly to endanger, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Walnut and Howley streets.
• 2:40 p.m. A caller reported about 30 people were gathering at Pierpont Park and may be getting ready to fight. Police said there was no fight, the individuals were "zombie enthusiasts heading to a zombie march."
• 4:37 p.m. A female caller at the Fairweather Apartments on Central Street reported she was watching a man in her car possibly involved in a break-in. She then told police she believed someone was driving around in her vehicle in the middle of the night. Police told her to log the mileage in her car to find out.
• 5:15 p.m. Jorge Pimentel, 21, of 98 Margin St. #2, Salem, was arrested outside Joe's American Bar & Grill for motor vehicle theft and receiving stolen property.
• 11:07 p.m. A caller at the Tannery Apartments on Crowninshield Street reported a car break-in. A seven-piece knife set and an iPod were taken.

Sunday, Oct. 7

• 1:21 a.m. A 20-year-old Peabody male was issued a court summons for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, following a report of disorderly conduct outside Paddy Kelly's. Police said two intoxicated males were outside the bar.
• 2:26 a.m. Samantha A. Linhares, 30, of 132 School St., New Bedford, was arrested for domestic assault and battery, following a report of a past disturbance by a clerk at the Hampton Inn. The clerk said two people were arguing inside a taxi.
• 3:18 a.m. A female caller at workout World reported her boyfriend might be having a reaction to drugs. He was taken to Lynn Union Hospital.
