Congressman John Tierney's brother-in-law, Daniel Eremian, who was convicted in December 2011 of federal racketeering and illegal gambling charges, has been released from prison early, Politico.com is reporting.

Although Eremian was sentenced to a three-year federal prison term in June 2012, he served just under two years, the last six months of which were spent living in a halfway house and under home confinement, according to this Salem News article.

Tierney's wife, Patrice, was also sentenced to time in prison as a result of the federal investigation.

Tierney will face former Marine Seth Moulton in the Democratic primary and is expected to take on Republican Richard Tisei in November.

Patch will continue to follow this story and will post additional information as it becomes available.
