Danvers Woman to be Charged in Pedestrian Accident

A 25-year-old Danvers woman will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injuries for Friday's pedestrian accident on Central Street.

A 25-year-old Danvers woman will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injuries in connection to a hit-and-run Friday night that sent a 75-year-old Peabody woman to the hospital in critical condition.

According to an incident report in the Peabody police log, the woman parked her car at home and turned herself in at the Danvers police station after the accident, telling officers she hit someone while driving in Peabody.

She was not arrested at the time, but that woman is identified as Kristiana M. Alexandrou, 25, of 12 Fowler St., Danvers. She will face the aforementioned charge in court. Her car was towed to the Peabody police station.

According to a press release from police on Saturday evening, the victim was still listed in critical condition at Mass. General Hospital in Boston.

Police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto released a statement around 8 p.m. Saturday, identifying the woman, confirming some details of the accident and saying the investigation was still ongoing.

Bonaiuto said the woman is Patricia Fleury, 75, of 20 Central St., Peabody.

Bonaiuto said officers responded to a car accident involving a pedestrian in the vicinity of 22 Central St. on Friday at 8:45 p.m. He said the pedestrian was crossing in the northbound lane of Central Street when she was struck by a
car being driven in that same lane.

According to scanner reports, Fleury bounced off the car and the vehicle -- a red Nissan sedan -- fled the scene up Central Street toward Danvers. Fleury was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Bonaiuto confirmed Peabody officers spoke with the owner of the suspect vehicle as well as the person who admitted to being behind the wheel during the accident. He did not release any further details at that time.

Bonaiuto said Peabody officers and detectives are continuing their investigation with assistance from a state police collision analysis and reconstruction team.
