UPDATE: Car That Crashed Into Mobile Home Driven by Elderly Man

A sedan crashed into the side of a Route 1 mobile home Tuesday afternoon. There were no injuries.

say an Everett man in his 70s was driving a black sedan that crashed into the side of a mobile home on Route 1 Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesman Detective Michael Crane said an investigation is still underway, but at this time, it appears the man lost control of the car on the northbound side of the highway and crashed into the home at Lot 35 of North Shore Mobile Villa. The trailer park is located at 161 Newbury St. just before the Golden Banana.

The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m.

Crane confirmed that an ambulance did respond to the scene, but there were no injuries to report. He said the driver is not being charged or cited at this time.

Crane said the owner of the unit was home at the time and told officers he heard a loud bang and looked outside to see a car underneath his home. The vehicle did smash through a side wall of the structure.

An inspector from the building department surveyed the scene and confirmed the structure was still sound, Crane said.

State police initially responded to the scene as well, but were cleared shortly afterward, leaving Peabody officers to handle the accident investigation.
