Caller Reports Female With Pick Axe Digging at School Playground

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from arrest reports in the  press log from Sept. 11-12.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

  • 2:09 p.m. A caller at a Main Street apartment reported his unit was broken into.
  • 2:55 p.m. Eric Espinosa, 18, of 84 Wallis St. #5, Peabody, was arrested at North Shore Children's Hospital in Salem. He was charged with domestic assault and battery.
  • 3:43 p.m. A caller on Esquire Drive reported a package that was delivered to her home was stolen.
  • 5:28 p.m. A caller reported she went to check on her parents' house on North Central Street and found the front door wide open. Police said sometime overnight jars of change containing approximately $500 were taken from the home.
  • 6:03 p.m. A caller reported a female with a pick ax was digging up dirt by the playground at the back of the . The female was described as wearing black pants and a dark pink, hooded sweatshirt. She was last seen heading up the path toward the parking lot. Police were unable to find the person.
  • 8:14 p.m. A caller on Sherwood Avenue reported hearing a loud explosion. Police checked the area, but did not find anything amiss.
  • 8:55 p.m. Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle that crashed into the storefront at . The vehicle was towed and the storefront was boarded up. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

  • 3:51 a.m. A caller at a Lowell Street home reported loud music coming from the second floor. Police checked the area and spoke to a 50-year-old. He turned his radio off for the night.
  • 7:51 a.m. Police responded to a report of a car break-in on Holden Street. The vehicle's window was broken and a wallet, along with several presciption medications and tools, were taken.
  • 8:18 a.m. An employee at the water treatment plant on Coolidge Avenue reported some vandalism to the building. He told police someone shot paint balls at the building on Sept. 10. The paint was washed off, but he asked police to make extra patrols in the area. He said that when the sun goes down, several kids hang out in the area of the bridge and he feared serious damage might be done in the future.
  • 10:01 a.m. An officer attempting to serve a restraining order to a man at a County Street home reported the following: "Spoke with the wife...she stated she doesn't know where he is living now, he might be in Woburn, Cape Cod or back to Brazil."
