Caller Claims Metal Found in Food at Restaurant

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from July 21-22. 

July 21

  • 2:12 p.m. a caller reported that his motor vehicle was damaged by a piece of metal sticking out of a concrete barrier at Carraba's Restaurant on Route 1. 
  • 3:42 p.m. breaking and entering into a motor vehicle was reported on Shore Drive. The caller reported that his vehicle's glove compartment and interior was ransacked overnight on Shore Drive. 
  • 6 p.m. Newbury Comics reported shoplifters. An officer waited for the youth suspects' parents to arrive. 
  • 6:32 p.m. a caller on Batchelder Avenue reported that her neighbor's ball is in her yard and that she refused to throw it back over the fence. The ball was eventually returned to the owner. 
  • 7:14 p.m. a female shoplifter at Sear's at the North Shore Mall was summonsed for shoplifting charges. 
  • 7:58 p.m. a female reported that her grandson had some metal in his food at a Route 1 restaurant and management isn't assisting her. An officer stated that he drove around the area looking for the caller and spoke to the manager, who said that he was unaware of anything.
Monday, July 22
  • 12:07 a.m. a caller reported a road rage incident on Main Street. There was allegedly contact between two cars but the officer responding did not notice any visible damage on the caller's vehicle. 
  • 10:29 a.m. a motor vehicle hit and run was reported on Main Street. An officer reports that the suspect's plate was not obtained. 
  • 11:20 a.m. the security director at the North Shore Bank on Andover Street reported a customer passing counterfeit bills. Police summonsed a woman for uttering counterfeit bills. 
  • 12:26 p.m. illegal dumping was reported at the River Development on Caller Street.
