Beverly Man Now Charged With Robberies in Nearby Towns
A 41-year-old Beverly man facing charges in a robbery and stabbing in West Peabody, now faces charges in a string of robberies in other North Shore towns.
A Beverly man charged with a last month is now being charged with robberies in Rowley, Georgetown and Ipswich, according to a report by the Salem News.
Michael J. Whitcomb, 41, of Beverly, may also face charges for at least two other recent armed assaults in downtown Peabody, police have said.
Whitcomb was arrested on Oct. 27 and charged with assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon over the Oct. 23 incident, in which he allegedly stabbed a man in the leg outside a home on Jackson Avenue.

The Salem News reported that Georgetown police issued an arrest warrant for Whitcomb on two counts each of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and intimidation of a witness during a robbery of the Georgetown Liquor Store on Sept. 29.
Police believe Whitcomb is also responsible for two robberies at Skip's Country Store on Route 133 in Rowley (the latest on Oct. 26) and a hold-up at Cumberland Farms in Ipswich on Oct. 9, according to the report.

Whitcomb is being held at Middleton Jail and will appear in Salem Superior Court on Friday for a dangerousness hearing.
